Overview
Nestled in the heart of Steinbeck country, the Monterey Area CHP is the primary agency responsible for traffic law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Monterey County in addition to all freeways. Monterey County, bordering the Pacific Ocean, is geographically and economically diverse with the two leading industries being tourism and agriculture. The area is primarily unincorporated however, there are two main population centers, the city of Salinas and seven Monterey Peninsula cities. The Monterey Area CHP offers a number of traffic safety programs aimed at keeping you and your loved ones safe on the road and on the highways.
