About the Position:
As a Short Term AOD Counselor I you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP).
What You Will Do:
Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
Effectively implement scheduled SMART Recovery program curriculum as required by contract. Leads face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral interventions, and the SMART Recovery Curriculum.
Engage participants periodically, reinforce group rules and expectation for participation and completion.
Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
Completes all delivery documentation requirements per contractual obligations in ARMS.
Prepares accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans, and prepare transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates with co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors, and Regional Directors.
Attend workshops, meetings, and training as requested by supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
Knowledge of contractual requirements of ISUDTP is essential.
Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS.
Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
Demonstrate ethical behavior to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.
Protect and maintain program participants’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
Required:
Current AOD Certification with organization recognized by the DHCS OR Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS, enrolled in AOD education classes, and minimum six (6) months of experience providing CBI services.
