Life Support System Installer

Tenji is a full-service aquarium design-build company providing aquarium services for public aquariums, commercial, educational, residential, and research projects. We provide all aspects of aquatic displays from master planning to construction.
Job Description:
The Life Support System (LSS) Installer works with the Field Operations Manager to support aquarium installations at Tenji’s clients across North America. The LSS Installer will be primarily based out of Tenji’s workshop space in Sand City, CA.
LSS Installer Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work as a Tenji team member to assist in building aquatic life support systems at jobsite locations throughout North America
· Read and understand construction drawings
· Safely utilize various hand and power tools
· Assist in building and testing aquatic systems in our Sand City workshop / warehouse
· Work with PVC plumbing materials
· Install pumps, filters, and other aquarium specific equipment
· Package and crate delicate materials for freight shipments
· Travel to job sites across North America as needed to complete installation and testing of systems onsite
· Communicate any concerns or errors to project management
· Drive Tenji vehicles to various locations throughout California
· Perform office related tasks such as time tracking and expense reporting
· Engage with clients, team members, and managers
Qualifications:
· Education – High School or equivalent
· 5+ years in the construction / plumbing industry
· 3+ years in the aquarium industry is a plus
· Good general mechanical skills and attention to detail
· Understand general construction methods and materials
· Understand construction safety practices
· Able to read and understand plan drawings
· Willing to travel
· Proficiency in the use of computers (E-mail, Internet)
· Able to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:
· Based out of Monterey, CA area – requirement
· Ability to work “on call”
· Must have good driving record
· Ability to lift 80 pounds
· Must be able to bend/twist body to install aquarium LSS
Licenses, Certification:
· Valid state driver’s license with good driving record
· Forklift operation a plus, but willing to train
· OSHA safety training a plus
