Slakey Brothers has an immediate opening for a FULL TIME Outside Sales Representative to join our Team! This is a key position that supports all aspects of the sales and service of our customers. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Sales and Promotion:
Meets with customers and visits job sites to coordinate jobs, promote, and sell products, and identify and fulfill customer needs.
Identifies and pursues leads on potential customers, new sales opportunities, and new products.
Develops action plans to generate sales with established customers.
Builds rapport and establishes relationships with customers by becoming a trusted, valued business partner.
Advises customers of appropriate products for a given need based on technical knowledge of products. Recommends similar, companion or substitute items.
Matches services with customer needs by demonstrating knowledge of customers, pricing, and competition.
Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, marketing features and benefits.
Closes sale by overcoming objections and prepares invoices for orders obtained.
Develops proactive vendor relationships and communicates with vendors to facilitate sales by pursuing leads and opportunities.
Attends trade shows, marketing events and business development activities as needed to promote products and services.
Promotes, supports, and implements Company sales promotions and marketing programs.
Implements and promotes closeout selling program with customers.
Represents the Company in a professional and ethical manner and fosters the Company’s reputation and image.
2. Quotes and Pricing:
Works with Inside Sales team to develop bids and provides customers with price quotes for jobs within Company guidelines and procedures.
Negotiates prices and services with customers with the Company’s best interests in mind and obtains management approval for pricing or services outside of Company guidelines.
Provides quotes on special order items, applying pricing and product knowledge.
Follows up on jobs to determine status and competitive position. Prepares submittals as needed.
Works with inside sales team to determine product availability and to find source for non-stock products in response to customer requests.
3. Customer Service and Support:
Coordinates customers’ jobs with inside sales team to order and release products in phases.
Estimates time of delivery to customer and assures prompt arrival of job order products, including scheduling direct shipments as appropriate.
Listens to, investigates, and resolves customer complaints about product, price, or service.
Makes highly independent decisions to resolve customer complaints, problems, and warranty issues, and depending on the customer, communicates resolution to supervisor and regional sales manager.
At the direction of management, meets with customers to request and receive payments when account is past due.
Maintains current working knowledge on existing and new products/services and other general information to ensure accurate information is provided.
Consults with inside sales team, vendors or uses catalogs and computer to research and respond to inquiries on specific items.
Maintains supply of product literature and provides to customers upon request.
Advises customers regarding product warranty policies
Coordinates or provides sales or technical product training to employees and customer.
High school diploma, or 4-year degree preferred.
Two to three years of related industry outside sales experience
Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of plumbing and/or HVAC products, industry and market trends, and sales order entry software, proficiency in typing.
Excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and over the phone.
Heavy industrial equipment operation and working knowledge.
Customer service-oriented approach, responds to requests with a sense of urgency.
Excellent knowledge of the products Slakey sells or the drive to learn.
Understanding of inside sales, outside sales functions.
Proactive, self-motivated, able to recognize issues and resolve or escalate appropriately
Strong decision-making abilities – understands impact and implications of decisions
Strong negotiation, written and verbal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage details and meet deadlines with 100% accuracy in a multi-task environment.
Able to work sitting or standing and move freely throughout the facility(s).
Able to lift and carry equipment, supplies and inventory on a frequent basis.
Able to organize people within the warehouse and promote teamwork.
