Key Responsibilities:
Develop policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of the financial results
The Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring the development of a scalable infrastructure to support a dynamic, growing company.
Supervise accounting and finance staff and all aspects of accounting
Prepare departmental and consolidated financial analysis and reports for presentation to both internal and external stakeholders in both GAAP and non-GAAP formats.
Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and provide information to external auditors as needed or directed by CFO.
Maintain financial staff through recruiting, interviewing, orienting, and training new hires.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Substantial accounting and finance knowledge and prior experience in a high volume food, agriculture or manufacturing company is desired.
Proven track record of increased responsibility in a finance department.
Solid understanding of GAAP.
Solid understanding of cost accounting, margin analysis, and the ability to develop a system of management cost reports.
Knowledge and expertise in FAMOUS (Payroll & Accounting software.)
Proficiency in the English language, verbal and written, and ability to communicate effectively with team members and inter-company personnel.
Knowledge and advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, electronic mail, FAMOUS, Google Docs and the ability to learn new and other programs (Google Apps, Smartsheet, Evernote, etc.)
Ability to travel to the company’s areas of operations up to and including overnight travel as needed (travel 40% to 50% of the time.)
Education Requirements:
Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Proven working experience as a Controller.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience with creating financial statements.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
Field of Study: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent is required.
CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
