With this fun and interesting job, about two-thirds of your time is spent meeting with our members to ensure their satisfaction and one-third is marketing and marketing support. Duties include learning/sharing benefits with new members, coordinating events like monthly mixers and ribbon cuttings, writing marketing copy (Constant Contact and Facebook posts). As we are a small (but energetic) team, there is the opportunity to assist with other areas, as fit your abilities and interests.
Characteristics of the ideal candidate include relevant work experience, attention to detail, strong writing skills, excellent customer-service attitude, team player, thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment. Computer skills: must be proficient with Microsoft Office and use of the Internet. Experience with graphics software (Publisher and/or Adobe) makes you a stronger candidate. Job Description: Member Services & Marketing Coordinator
Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce
Reports to: President / CEO
The Member Services Specialist is responsible for retaining existing members, as well as the sale of Chamber advertising. This position may also recruit new Chamber members, in a secondary role to the Membership Director and under the terms and guidelines agreed upon. The expectations are that member retention and sales of products and services will be at or above budgeted levels. This is a Non-Exempt position.
Develops and oversees Membership Retention Plan
Continually educates members on programs and services available through the Chamber
Represents the Chamber staff on the Ambassador Committee; provides staff support to assigned committees including preparing agendas, minutes, and resource files; assists with Committee program development and budget preparation.
Personally contacts existing member businesses at least once per year
Maintains and contributes to Chamber membership database
Coordinates ribbon cuttings and other member events with staff and Ambassadors
Ensures the Chamber has received company logos, biographies, and other information to assist members in promoting their businesses through the Chamber
Provides or secures articles for the Salinas Valley Business Journal related to Membership development
Monthly recurring events: primary for Connect at Lunch and Lunch and Learn; secondary for Monthly Mixers
Represents Chamber on the Membership and Marketing Committees; provides staff support to assigned committees including preparing agendas, minutes, and resource files; assists with Committee program development and budget preparation.
Develops membership sales literature and promotional strategies to market the Chamber
Responsible for website content and drives social media strategy
Marketing: uses graphic design skills to create marketing pieces to support Chamber membership and for all of our promotional communications – both print and electronic and social media
Performs all other duties as assigned
Desired Education and Experience:
Strong experience in sales and marketing with the ability to develop and motivate a volunteer base is necessary.
