Hours: 30-40 hours / week, non-exempt. Temporary from 12/1/2021 – 03/15/2022
Salary: $20.00-$24.00/hour

About the Agency

The Monterey County Rape Crisis Center (MCRCC) is a nonprofit agency whose mission is to provide ongoing advocacy, support and healing for all victims and survivors of sexual assault, human trafficking and child abuse; and to prevent sexual violence in our community through
education.

Overview

MCRCC is seeking to add a new team member who has experience working in the field of human trafficking intervention and outreach to its high functioning Community Engagement Team. The agency will hire either at the manager level or the specialist level depending on experience.

The objectives of the Community Engagement Team are threefold: 1.) increase awareness about sexual violence and MCRCC’s services (i.e. inform the community about the prevalence and impact of sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse and about MCRCC’s services); 2.)
increase financial support for MCRCC ( i.e. fundraise); and 3.) increase organizational capacity through trainings and the dissemination of resources and information to enhance MCRCC’s ability to serve and engage the Monterey County Community. Reporting to the Community Engagement Director, the Human Trafficking Outreach Manager (or Specialist) collaborates with other members of the Community Engagement Team, as well as the Counseling, Crisis Intervention
and Prevention Education Teams to support the work of the agency and to keep informed of all agency programs and activities. The Human Trafficking Outreach Manager (or Specialist) is responsible for the planning and implementation of the human trafficking outreach objectives of the Community Engagement Team.

The Human Trafficking Outreach Manager (or Specialist) is also a member of the Crisis Intervention Team and provides direct support, crisis intervention, advocacy, and accompaniment services to survivors of sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse. MCRCC’s orientation in its human trafficking outreach objectives includes information and community education about both labor and sex trafficking; and MCRCC’s crisis intervention work includes both sex and labor trafficking survivors.

This is a temporary position and will terminate 3/15/2021.

Responsibilities

Community Engagement

● Attend monthly Coalition to End Human Trafficking Meetings

● Facilitate training regarding human trafficking to all MCRCC staff and volunteers on an ongoing basis

● Facilitate training to students of all ages and community partners (county government entities, school districts, other community based organizations, businesses, etc.) regarding human trafficking

● Attend human trafficking conferences and bring pertinent information back to MCRCC

● Plan and facilitate community awareness activities regarding human trafficking on an annual basis; and collaborate with the Coalition to End Human Trafficking to implement its annual conference

● Assess public information and service needs of the community in general and specifically related to human trafficking

● Assist in all aspects of public information and community relation efforts specifically related to human trafficking

● Develop education/public information programs to educate the community on MCRCC services. Target audiences to include civic clubs and organizations, health fairs, employers, social service organizations, church groups, etc.

● Develop and coordinate Human Trafficking Prevention and Awareness Month (January) activities; as well as, collaborate and assist with the development and coordination of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April) activities

● Assist in the production and editing of social media posts, blogs, and newsletters for the general public

● Produce flyers, press releases, and PSAs to promote services, educational programs and special events in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team

● Maintain and update list of media contacts in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team

● Develop and distribute promotional brochures, flyers, online materials, etc. in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team

● Review, acquire, and/or create public information/education materials for tabling’s and online events in collaboration with the Community Engagement Team

● Assist with advocate trainings, board and staff training, fundraising events and monthly advocate meetings

● Attend meetings, conferences, agency functions, fundraisers, events, and other job-related events as required

● Perform agency and program administrative and operational tasks, as needed Crisis Intervention

● Provide direct client services including phone and in-person crisis intervention, accompaniment, advocacy and support group/individual in-takes

● Follow-up with diverse populations to provide crisis intervention and peer counseling, ex: high school students, CSEC youth, students in juvenile hall, incarcerated survivors

● Maintain confidentiality confidentiality of all client records and sensitive information

● Remain current with news, new legislation, reporting laws, child abuse and sexual violence research in general

● Provide support to volunteer advocates and MCRCC clients on the crisis line and on SART call outs as the staff member on back-up on a rotating basis

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in social services, business or human services or equivalent work or volunteer experience

● Expertise level knowledge about labor and sex trafficking; and ability to communicate clearly and accurately about human trafficking to diverse audiences

● Have completed, or be able to complete, the 47.5-hour Sexual Assault Counselor Training

● Passion for the agency’s mission of ending sexual violence and support for survivors

● Familiarity with Monterey County and community resources available to clients

● High proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs
