Definition
The Little Friends Preschool Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Director in oversight and management of the Little Friends Preschool. This position is responsible for assisting the Director when needed scheduling, bookkeeping (taking payments), payroll, managing and supporting all teaching staff with quality practice components of curriculum development. This includes the Abeka curriculum, child and classrooms environment assessments, teacher training and professional development. The Assistant Director will support and assume position responsibilities of Director when the Director is not available or away from the school.
Supervision
The Little Friends Preschool Assistant Director reports directly to the Little Friends Preschool Director.
Skill Set for This Job
The Assistant Director must be kind, patient and loving, as they spend the majority of their days working with young children. They must be a strong leader, with the ability to manage a diverse group of children. It’s important that they be an effective communicator, as they will be interacting with staff, parents and children on a daily basis. It is also imperative that the Assistant Director be very organized, detail-oriented, be able to multi-task, be trustworthy and responsible.
Essential Responsibilities:
That could be needed in the life of the school’s operations
Assist with classroom enrollments, enrollment packets, registration fees, late fees, tuition, payroll, child files and communications with families.
Assist with maintaining licensing regulations and procedures, filing appropriate reports with State Licensing
Meet and greet families and children daily at arrival and departure times
Confer with the Director about situations, concerns before addressing the staff
Assist teaching staff and Director with family conferences
Assist Director with preschool tours and information sessions (post covid restrictions)
Assist Director with yearly Family survey process for all enrollment families
Assist and participate in monthly staff meetings staying on the topic at hand
Assist with organization and maintaining administrative environment, equipment and supplies
Notify Director of any important information
Assist with accommodating schedule changes and cover staff when needed (This includes anything from teaching in classrooms to working the office answering phones and payroll)
Participate in special events like Christmas program, Easter program and graduation
Additional duties as assigned:
These are areas that could be assisted from time to time when the Director finds it necessary
The Assistant Directors proactive supportiveness for the Director should dwell in the hearts of the staff that they are a team of leaders who support one another.
