The Monterey County, Information Technology Department (ITD) consists of four (4) operational Divisions: Administration; Applications & Customer Support; Infrastructure & Operations; and Information Security. ITD resources are operated and maintained in a manner that supports high availability for utilization and minimizes the risk of business interruption. Over the last several years, the ITD Infrastructure & Operations Division initiated and completed a significant number of network technology infrastructure projects which include County-wide VoIP deployment, deployment of a converged IP and software-defined technology framework using Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) and self-managed Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, and deployment of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) technology for the purpose of setting up segmented and identity-driven networks.
The Division seeks a seasoned Network Services Engineer II to provide professional engineering and technical support for the County’s on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure that delivers unified communication services in the areas of network, voice, video, radio, and broadcast.
The ideal candidate will have solid work experience and knowledge of Cloud and on-premise network technologies such as DevOps or network automation, MPLS, software-defined network, Cisco ACI, and Palo Alto Networks firewall.
The Eligible List established by this recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.
This classification is part of a flexible series. Incumbents appointed at the lower level of the career series may be promoted up to the higher level of the career series subject to their meeting the employment standards for the higher class and a recommendation for their promotion by the appointing authority.
