BASIC FUNCTION:
The General Mechanic/Heavy Equipment is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on both vehicles and equipment in order to ensure the proper and safe working condition of Company-owned equipment and vehicles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Perform services, maintenance, repair, and overhaul in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
2) Ensure that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
3) Perform equipment repairs in response to maintenance requests, in shops or in field locations.
4) Repairs heavy equipment, removing /replacing components.
5) Uses diagnostic procedures and test equipment to identify and correct equipment faults.
6) Performs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and electronic analyses and diagnoses.
7) Operates shop equipment including cranes, welders, compressors, presses, grinders, heavy hand tools, and tire servicing equipment.
8) Lifts, moves and/or installs heavy parts and assemblies safely, using basic tooling and PPE.
9) Performs proper work order documentation.
10) Assists other mechanics and members of REI team as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILTIES
1) Demonstrate ability to follow through on instruction, work with minimal supervision.
2) High school diploma/GED
3) Proven communication skills (English) Bilingual- A Plus
4) Diploma of Professional Studies in heavy mechanic/diesel mechanic is preferred, or equivalent.
5) 3 years’ experience of which must have specifically involved the repair of trucks or other heavy automotive equipment, or equivalent.
6) Candidate must possess a Class “C” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
7) Knowledge and proper use of special tools/ equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
8) Must know theory and principles of engine operations and accessories and components.
